Mickey Kelley is a fighter who is the first American black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. When he competes in an unsanctioned MMA tournament, everything changes for him. Mickey is a vet who gets asked to fight by Dennis Quaid who tracks him down to thank him for helping his son when they were in the army together. He struggles with his life back home, trying to adjust to civilian life while also attempting to provide for his family. He was a well-known Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter who was the top of his game and now he is going to try his hand at MMA. Can this former hero rise above and fight on the mat against the top MMA fighters around? Sean Patrick Flanery plays Mickey Kelley who is in his underwear in a boxing scene. He gets into the ring and warms up as the "Star-Spangled Banner" plays in the background.
