From singer Julia Matthews in Wills & Burke (1985) to legendary comedienne Lucille Ball in Being the Ricardos (2021), Australian A-lister Nicole Kidman is no stranger to playing real life people on screen. Throughout her successful career, she’s portrayed British writer Virginia Woolf in The Hours (2002); Hollywood actress turned princess Grace Kelly in Monte Carlo (2011); English archeologist Gertrude Bell in Queen of the Desert (2015); American costume and set designer Aline Bernstein in Genius (2016); and Fox News personality Gretchen Carlson in Bombshell (2019). In between these impressive credits, Ms. Kidman took on the part of famed photographer Diane Arbus in Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006). Also known as Fur, this artsy biopic is based on Patricia Bosworth’s non-fiction book “Diane Arbus: A Biography” (1984). The period piece follows the origins of the prolific shutterbug, showing how she became renowned for documenting marginalized people. Under the direction of Steven Shainberg, the romantic fantasy examines Diane’s relationships with her subjects. The movie begins with a visit to Camp Penis where she’s greeted by a totally naked Jack Henry (Boris McGiver). Yes, the nude dude goes full frontal just three minutes into the movie! The pic also includes views of Robert Downey Jr. as Lionel Sweeney, a man afflicted with hypertrichosis. In other words, he’s got a lot of hair! As such, Ms. Arbus bathes and shaves him. The skintastic act means we get to see RDJ’s T&A in one scene and his bare bod in another. Say cheese!
