Spider (2002)

When a man (Ralph Fiennes) is released for a mental institution after spending most of his life being treated for schizophrenia, he finds himself living in a halfway house and must try to adjust to having a normal life while dealing with his ongoing mental illness.

Spider (2002) is a deep, at times dark and disturbing movie that takes a long, lingering look into the mind of a very troubled person. There is not much in the way of nudity or sex in this movie, but it does jump around a lot and includes flashbacks from various times in the man’s life. Throughout these flashbacks we sometimes see the very attractive Mr. Fiennes in his underwear or with his shirt off. One scene gives us a nice sidage shot as he crawls nude into a bathtub. Another finds him wearing just his boxers as he strips down in the bathroom. There isn’t much in the way of sensuality, but Mr. Fiennes’s fine body looks fantastic so these quick glances do bring a little joy and happiness into this otherwise bleak film.
